Abdullah Akbar, M.S

Abdullah Akbar is a Programmer Analyst for Dr. Fried’s lab. He received a BS in Computer Science and a MS in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience (with a specialization in Computational Modeling) from UT Dallas. He is interested in low-level hardware control programming and in computer networks and brain-computer interfaces.  His previous technical experience includes writing programs to handle real-time data from rocketry equipment and astronaut suits for both NASA and SpaceX, as well as designing optimized Cryo-EM imaging software for Dr. Zbyszek Otwinowski’s lab at UT Southwestern. At CNL, he works on developing and supporting the lab’s various software needs, including the closed-loop stimulation system and automated annotations pipeline. Outside of the lab, he enjoys playing basketball, pool, and videogames, as well as exploring new cities and parks.
